“Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.” John 15:13 (ESV)
Simple question today: “when was the last time you laid down your life for…anyone outside your family?” I don’t mean did something nice… don’t get me wrong, that’s a good thing, but I mean made significant sacrifice for another…laid down your life.
When did you last give up what you wanted… what you even needed so that another might know God or be fed? “What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works?” James 2:14 (esv).
I’m not trying to beat you down, but here’s the thing… scripture doesn’t really leave us room on this one. “Take up your cross…” Matthew 16:24, “Go and make disciples…” Matthew 28:18, “Be doers of the Word…” James 1:22, “by this we know that we have come to know him, if we keep his commandments.” 1 John 1:3.
Just think about it… who can you have greater love for this week?
